Straight comparisons

How Invoice Local compares, without the marketing fog.

Invoicing is a crowded category and most comparison pages are written to make one product win every row. These pages do the opposite. Each one says plainly what the other app does better, and who should pick it instead.

Side by side

The apps trades usually shortlist

Each comparison covers the free plan limits, what the paid tier actually unlocks, how sending works on a phone, and the kind of business each app is built for. Prices and limits are checked against public pricing pages, and where a limit changes often we say so rather than quoting a number that will be wrong next month.

Invoice2go alternative

Invoice2go is a mature product with payments and expenses built in. Invoice Local is smaller, free without a cap, and works with no signal.

Wave alternative

Wave is free accounting software with invoicing attached. Invoice Local is an invoice app with no accounting attached. Which you need depends on your desk.

Invoice Simple alternative

The closest comparison of the three. Same idea, different free plan: one caps how many invoices you can send, the other does not.

Joist alternative

The closest product to what we are building. Both are mobile first for trades, so the differences are narrow and worth reading carefully.

Jobber alternative

Jobber runs the whole business. This runs the invoice. If you have a team and a schedule to manage, that is not a close call.

Excel or Word template alternative

A template is free and works. It also breaks in four predictable ways, and every one of them costs money rather than time.

Zoho Invoice alternative

Zoho gives you a lot for free inside a big suite. The question is whether a suite is what a one van business needs.

Housecall Pro alternative

A full home service platform against a single purpose invoice app. The deciding question is whether you dispatch anyone but yourself.

QuickBooks alternative

Accounting software with invoicing inside, against invoicing with no accounting. Most trades need both, from different places.

Paper duplicate book alternative

The book is genuinely good at three things. It fails at exactly two, and both of them are about money you never see arrive.

Square Invoices alternative

Square is free to send and charges on collection. This charges nothing on collection because it does not collect. Two different bets.

What Invoice Local does not do

Reading a comparison is faster when you know the deal breakers up front. These are the four things Invoice Local genuinely does not do today, and any one of them may end the comparison before you open a page.

None of these are on a roadmap we are willing to promise dates for, so treat them as the current state rather than a hint. If one of them is central to how you get paid, the honest answer is that another product fits you better right now.

No card paymentsCustomers cannot pay the invoice by card through the app. You collect by transfer, cash or your own reader.
No iPhone app yetAndroid on Google Play, and a browser app for iPhone. Not the same as a native iOS install.
No accountingNo bank feeds, no reconciliation, no profit and loss. It tracks invoices and payments, nothing wider.
No recurring billingInvoices do not send themselves on a schedule. You duplicate the last one, which takes seconds but is not automatic.
Questions

About these comparisons

Are these comparisons impartial?

We wrote them, so read them with that in mind. What we can promise is that we do not invent limits, we do not quote a competitor price without checking it, and every page names the cases where the other app is the better choice. If you spot something out of date, tell us and we will fix it.

Do you earn commission from any of these?

No. There are no affiliate links on this site and no paid placements in these tables. The only thing we sell is Invoice Local Pro.

Why compare against free tools at all?

Because most trades start on a free plan and hit a wall later, usually a monthly invoice cap or a feature that quietly moves behind a paid tier. Knowing where each wall sits is more useful than a feature list, so that is what these pages focus on.

The fastest comparison is five minutes with the app

Install it, send one real invoice, and see whether the flow suits how you work. Nothing to cancel and no card involved.
