Invoice2go has been around a long time and does far more than send invoices. That is exactly why some trades outgrow it in the wrong direction, paying for a business platform when what they needed was a fast invoice from the truck.

The short answer
Invoice2go is the better product if you want card payments, expense tracking and reporting in one subscription. Invoice Local is the better fit if you want unlimited invoices at no cost, on a phone, working with no signal, and you handle payment by bank transfer or in person.
Both send professional PDF invoices from a phone. The difference is scope. Invoice2go aims to be the financial hub of a small business. Invoice Local does one job, which is turning a finished job into a sent invoice in about thirty seconds, and deliberately stops there.
Where limits and prices are concerned, check the current Invoice2go pricing page before deciding. Their plan structure has changed several times, and a number quoted on a comparison page written months ago is exactly the kind of thing that goes stale. What is stable is the shape: a free trial or limited entry tier, then tiered subscriptions with the useful features higher up.
What Invoice2go does well
It is a complete small business tool rather than an invoice app, and that breadth is real.
- Card and online payments. Customers can pay the invoice directly, which measurably shortens collection compared with a bank transfer the customer has to initiate.
- Expenses and receipts. Photograph a receipt, attach it to a job, and see profitability rather than just revenue.
- Reporting. Proper business reports for someone who wants to see the year rather than the week.
- iPhone and Android. A mature app on both platforms with years of iteration behind it.
- Recurring invoices. Contracts that bill themselves on a schedule without you touching them.
If several of those are things you would use every week, this comparison probably ends here and Invoice2go is your answer.
What Invoice Local does differently
Invoice Local is built around one moment: standing at the property with the job finished, needing the invoice to exist before you drive away.
- Offline first. Invoices are created and stored on the device, not sent to a server as you type. A basement, a plant room or a rural driveway changes nothing.
- No account to start. Install it and send an invoice two minutes later. Signing in is optional and only adds cloud backup and sync.

Rows marked check current pricing are deliberately not filled in with a number. Invoice2go has restructured its plans more than once, and quoting a figure we cannot keep current would make this table wrong within a quarter.
When Invoice2go is the right choice
There are clear cases where paying for the bigger product is the correct decision, and pretending otherwise would waste your time.
- You want customers to pay by card directly from the invoice
- You track expenses and want profitability per job, not just revenue
- You need recurring invoices that send themselves on a schedule
- You work on an iPhone and want a native app rather than a browser
- You want one subscription covering invoicing, payments and reporting
When Invoice Local is the better fit
The opposite cases are just as clear, and they describe a lot of one van and two van businesses.

- You often work where there is no signal and need the app to not care

What each one costs
Invoice Local is free forever for unlimited invoices and quotes, including saved customers, saved line items, WhatsApp and email sending and the Classic template. Pro is $4.99 a month or $29.99 a year and adds five more invoice designs, removes the small watermark and puts your logo on the invoice.
Invoice2go sells tiered subscriptions, with the more useful features on the higher tiers, and the exact structure is on their pricing page. The honest way to compare is to work out which features you would genuinely use each week and price only those. Paying for payments, expenses and reporting is good value if you use them and a slow leak if you do not.
If the reason you are reading this is that a subscription renewed and you could not remember why you had it, that is a useful signal on its own.
Questions about switching
Can I import my customers and invoices from Invoice2go?
There is no import tool today, which is a real limitation worth knowing before you switch. In practice most trades add customers as they next invoice them, so the list rebuilds itself within a few weeks. Historic invoices stay where they are, and you should keep access to them for as long as your local record keeping rules require.
Will my invoices look as professional?
Yes. There are six invoice designs, one free and five on Pro, and each is a clean print ready PDF with your business name, or your logo on Pro, bank details, itemized lines and totals. The free design carries a small watermark, which Pro removes.
Can my customers pay by card?
Not through the invoice. Invoice Local does not process payments, so you collect by bank transfer, cash, or your own card reader. If in invoice card payment is important to how you get paid, that is a genuine reason to stay with Invoice2go.
Is there an iPhone app?
Not yet. The native app is on Google Play for Android, and on iPhone you can use the web app at app.invoicelocal.com, which works but is not the same as an installed native app. If your business runs on iPhones, weigh that carefully.
Which devices does it run on?
Android phones and tablets through Google Play, and any modern browser at app.invoicelocal.com. There is no iPhone app yet, so on an iPhone you use the browser version, which builds and sends the same PDF from the same account.
