A free invoice app that does not run out when you get busy
Most free invoicing is a trial wearing a different word. This one has no monthly cap, no per invoice charge and no limit on customers, and the paid tier changes how the invoice looks rather than how many you may send.
Free forever No card No account needed to start
What free means here, precisely
The free plan gives you unlimited invoices and quotes, unlimited customers and saved items, sending by WhatsApp or email, and the Classic invoice design with a small watermark. There is no monthly cap, no per invoice fee and no trial period. Pro at $4.99 a month adds five more designs and removes the watermark.
That distinction matters because free means at least four different things in this category. Some apps cap invoices per month. Some cap them per year. Some are a fourteen day trial. Some are free until you want to remove branding, which for a business is not optional.
Here the boundary is deliberately not the volume of work you do. Charging a trade more for being busier is a bad trade for both sides, so the paid tier sits on presentation instead. Cloud backup and sync are free with an account.
The specifics, without the marketing
Invoice Local is a free invoicing app for local trades and small service businesses. It runs on Android and in a browser, works completely offline because invoices are stored on the device, sends the finished PDF to WhatsApp or email through the phone share sheet, and has no cap on how many invoices you send. Pro costs $4.99 a month and adds five more invoice designs, removes the watermark and puts your logo on the invoice. Cloud backup and sync are free with an account.
| What it is | An invoicing app for local trades and small service businesses. |
|---|---|
| Platforms | Native Android app on Google Play, plus a browser app at app.invoicelocal.com. No iOS app yet. |
| Price | Free forever with no invoice cap. Pro is $4.99 a month or $29.99 a year. |
| Free plan includes | Unlimited invoices and quotes, unlimited customers, saved line items, WhatsApp and email sending, and the Classic PDF design with a small watermark. |
| Pro adds | Five more PDF designs, no watermark, and your own logo on the invoice. That is the whole of it. |
| Cloud backup | Free. A free account turns on backup and sync across devices; it is not part of Pro. |
| Account required | No. The app works fully offline with no sign up. An account only adds cloud backup and sync. |
| Works offline | Yes. Invoices are created and stored on the device, so no signal is required to build or save one. |
| Sending | The finished PDF goes to WhatsApp or email through the phone share sheet, with the message already written. On a desktop browser that cannot share files the PDF downloads instead and you attach it yourself. |
| Languages | Twelve, including the invoice PDF itself, not only the interface. |
| Documents | Invoices and quotes. A quote converts into an invoice keeping its lines, totals and any payments already recorded. Part payments are recorded against a document rather than being documents of their own. |
| Does not do | No card payment processing, no accounting or bank reconciliation, no automatic recurring billing, and no import from another app. |

Who a free invoice app is genuinely right for
Free is not automatically the right answer, and it is worth being honest about when it is.
- Sole traders and one van businesses who invoice from a phone
- Anyone sending more invoices than a capped free tier allows
- New businesses where a subscription before the first payment is a real barrier
- Trades who collect by bank transfer, cash or their own card reader
- People who want their data on the device rather than in an account somewhere
- Anyone who has been sending invoices from a word processor template

Where the free plan genuinely stops
Two limits belong to the free plan and four belong to the product regardless of what you pay. Both sets are listed here because finding them out later is worse.
- Free plan: one invoice design, the Classic, rather than all six
- Free plan: a small watermark on the PDF, which Pro removes
- No card payments at any tier. Customers pay you by transfer, cash or your own reader
- No accounting, no bank feeds and no profit and loss at any tier
- No automatic recurring billing. You duplicate last month instead
- No native iPhone app yet. Android on Google Play, browser everywhere else
Questions about the free plan
Is there a catch?
The catch is the two free plan limits: one invoice design and a small watermark on the PDF. That is the entire difference. There is no invoice cap, no trial clock and no feature that stops working after a period.
What happens to my invoices if I never upgrade?
Nothing. They stay on your device and remain fully usable. The free plan is not a trial, so there is no expiry and nothing gets locked. If you sign in for cloud backup, that account and its data stay yours whether or not you buy Pro.
Why is it free at all?
Because unlimited free invoicing is what makes people try it, and a small number of them want the extra designs and the watermark gone. That is the whole business model. There are no ads, no data sales and no third party trackers.
Do I need an account to use the free plan?
No. Install it and start. Your data lives on the device. Creating a free account only adds cloud backup and sync, which matters if you replace your phone or use a tablet as well.
Can I send a hundred invoices a month for free?
Yes. Volume is not what the paid tier is for. A window cleaning round of forty invoices a month and a plumber sending six both cost nothing.
Is the watermark obvious?
It is small and sits discreetly on the page rather than across the middle of it. Plenty of sole traders send free plan invoices to customers without a second thought. If you would rather it was not there, that is what Pro is for.
