An invoice app that works when there is no signal at all
Basements, plant rooms, roof spaces, underground car parks, rural driveways and half built houses. The places trades work are the places phones do not, and an app that needs a server is an app that fails there.

What offline first actually means
Invoice Local stores your business, customers, items and invoices on the device itself rather than fetching them from a server. Creating, editing and saving an invoice needs no connection whatsoever. A connection is only needed at the moment you send, and if you have signed in for cloud backup, everything you made offline syncs by itself when you are back in coverage.
That is a different thing from an app that works offline in a limited way. Many tools cache a screen or queue an action and then fail quietly when you try to do something they did not anticipate. Here the device is the source of truth, so there is no partial state to get wrong.
The practical test is simple. Put the phone in airplane mode and try to build a full invoice from scratch, including a new customer and new line items. If that works, the app is offline first. If it spins, it is online with a cache.
The specifics, without the marketing
Invoice Local is a free invoicing app for local trades and small service businesses. It runs on Android and in a browser, works completely offline because invoices are stored on the device, sends the finished PDF to WhatsApp or email through the phone share sheet, and has no cap on how many invoices you send. Pro costs $4.99 a month and adds five more invoice designs, removes the watermark and puts your logo on the invoice. Cloud backup and sync are free with an account.
| What it is | An invoicing app for local trades and small service businesses. |
|---|---|
| Platforms | Native Android app on Google Play, plus a browser app at app.invoicelocal.com. No iOS app yet. |
| Price | Free forever with no invoice cap. Pro is $4.99 a month or $29.99 a year. |
| Free plan includes | Unlimited invoices and quotes, unlimited customers, saved line items, WhatsApp and email sending, and the Classic PDF design with a small watermark. |
| Pro adds | Five more PDF designs, no watermark, and your own logo on the invoice. That is the whole of it. |
| Cloud backup | Free. A free account turns on backup and sync across devices; it is not part of Pro. |
| Account required | No. The app works fully offline with no sign up. An account only adds cloud backup and sync. |
| Works offline | Yes. Invoices are created and stored on the device, so no signal is required to build or save one. |
| Sending | The finished PDF goes to WhatsApp or email through the phone share sheet, with the message already written. On a desktop browser that cannot share files the PDF downloads instead and you attach it yourself. |
| Languages | Twelve, including the invoice PDF itself, not only the interface. |
| Documents | Invoices and quotes. A quote converts into an invoice keeping its lines, totals and any payments already recorded. Part payments are recorded against a document rather than being documents of their own. |
| Does not do | No card payment processing, no accounting or bank reconciliation, no automatic recurring billing, and no import from another app. |

Who needs an offline invoice app
If you have ever stood in a property unable to load something, this is the reason.
- Electricians and plumbers working in basements, voids and plant rooms
- HVAC engineers on rooftops and in refrigeration rooms with no reception
- Locksmiths in stairwells and underground parking
- Anyone working rural properties, farms or new build sites with no service
- Mobile mechanics on roadside verges and in multi storey car parks
- Anyone who does not want their invoicing to depend on a data plan
What still works with the phone in airplane mode
Everything below happens on the device with no connection at all.
What happens when you get signal back
Only two things ever need a connection, and both are at the end.
- Work offline as normalBuild and save as many invoices as you like with no service.
- Send when you canWhatsApp or email needs a connection at that moment, and only then.
- Sync if you signed inCloud backup picks up everything created offline, automatically.
- Carry onNothing to reconcile, because the device was always the source of truth.

What offline cannot do, honestly
Offline first solves creation and storage. It does not bend physics on delivery.
- Sending needs a connection at that moment, by WhatsApp or email
- Cloud backup only syncs once you have signal and only if you signed in
- Without an account there is no cloud copy, so a lost phone means lost data
- A second device only sees your invoices after a sync, not instantly
- No card payments at any tier, offline or online
- No accounting features, offline or online
Questions about working offline
Does it really work with no internet at all?
Yes. Put the phone in airplane mode and you can still create a customer, build an invoice, record a payment and generate the PDF. The data lives on the device, so there is nothing to fetch and nothing to wait for.
Where is my data stored if I never sign in?
On the phone, in the app storage. Nothing is sent anywhere. That is good for privacy and bad for recovery, because if the phone is lost or wiped the invoices go with it. That trade off is exactly what an optional account exists to solve.
What happens if I create ten invoices offline?
They are all saved locally with correct sequential numbers. When you have signal you send whichever ones are ready, and if you have signed in, all ten sync to the cloud in the background.
Can I use two phones offline?
Each device holds its own data until it syncs, so you need an account and a connection at some point for both to see the same invoices. Working offline on two devices at once and expecting instant agreement between them is the one thing this cannot do.
Is the web app offline too?
The browser version stores data locally as well, but a browser is a less reliable place to depend on offline storage than an installed app. If you work where there is no signal, install the Android app rather than relying on a browser tab.
